John L. Tongen
AuD, CCC-A, FAAA
A life-long resident of North Dakota, Dr. Tongen has served for many years in both clinical and private practice roles. He brings extensive experience to the study of hearing loss, particularly its potential contribution to cognitive issues such as dementia and Alzheimer’s caused by social isolation. Dr. Tongen has served as president of the North Dakota Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology as well as chair of the North Dakota Academy of Audiology. He has been instrumental in the development of clinical protocols for a medically styled management approach to hearing and communication problems.
Kevin C. Pons
Kevin C. Pons is a certified and licensed audiologist with more than 30 years of experience evaluating and treating hearing loss and hearing related disorders. He earned his bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology in addition to his master’s degree in audiology from the University of Connecticut.
Michelle J. Zimiga
Michelle J. Zimiga, Au.D., is an audiologist who is licensed to practice audiology and dispense hearing aids in South Dakota and Nebraska. Originally from Hot Springs, she earned her bachelor’s degree in communication disorders before earning her Doctorate of Audiology degree from the University of South Dakota. Michelle trained at Northwest AEA in Sioux City, Avera ENT in Yankton and Aberdeen Hearing Clinic in Aberdeen. She has joined Dr. Ford at the outreach clinic in Wayne, Nebraska. Michelle’s specialties include adult and pediatric audiological testing, otoacoustic emission testing, hearing aids, custom swim plugs and ear protection.
